Seriously Old Dirt by Vilafonté 2020

Seriously Old Dirt 2020 displays a brilliant, deep garnet-red colour. This wine delivers layers of fresh fruit on the nose; plum, black cherry, and blackberry along with warm notes of baking spice and vanilla pod. Subtle liquorice and seductive tobacco and hazelnut add a luxurious dimension. Flavours of ripe black cherry develop into lovely mineral notes, along with a lingering finish. Sumptuous and supple, with a line of acidity, giving elegance and balance.

Seriously Good Wine

Cabernet sauvignon is grown across the Western Cape on terroir ideally suited for the growth thereof. With richly textured soils ranging from decomposed granite and shale to loamy clay soils. The region has a typical Mediterranean climate, with cold wet winters and warm summers. 2020 saw the start of the growing season with fair weather conditions, which lead to even and successful budburst and flowering, followed by a moderate summer resulting in a desirable ripening tempo to produced excellent quality berries.

Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented in stainless steel tanks, with small portion being fermented French oak barrels.

Matured for eighteen months in older French oak barrique.
