Lycaon Pinotage 2021

Layered red berry fruit and spice with a lively rich palate. The wine has great concentration and poise. It has a beautiful finish with ripe smooth tannins and a fresh finish.

A certified single high elevation vineyard on Silkbush farm in Breedekloof. The site is primarily west facing, curving to the northwest and is one of the lightest sites in the cape with maximum possible sunlight hours. It is also one of the highest sites for Pinotage in the Cape at around 700 to 750 metres above sea level. The cooling influence of the altitude results in a long hang time for the grapes, being one of the last Pinotage vineyards to be harvested. Yields are naturally low at around six tonnes per hectare. The vineyard had produced several top-rated Pinotage wines over the years from other producers and is rated amongst South Africa’s top Pinotage.

This wine will continue to develop in the bottle for up to 10 years from the vintage.
