Iona

Iona is situated 420m above sea-level on the Highlands Pass, in Elgin. Altitude, proximity to the cold Atlantic Ocean, cool sea breezes, extensive orographic cloud cover, high humidity and varied, complex soils, make Iona a unique vineyard site in South Africa. Together with the prevailing South Easterly winds during the growing and ripening season, which push cold air up over the vineyards, these factors result in Iona having the coolest vineyards in the country.
